The Provincial Transit Plan
How will a planned $14B investment in the regions transit impact transit oriented development in the Lower Mainland?
Recently, the Government of B.C. announced a new strategy to double transit ridership in British Columiba by 2020, by making significant strategic investments in the development of a comprehensive transit infrastructure development plan. This will reinforce comprehensive community developments where public transit is the catalyst in establishing new neighbourhoods and employment zones around transit stations and along transit corridors.
NAIOP has assembled a dynamic roster of speakers to give you a big picture overview of what these improvements will mean, both in terms of people and goods movements but also in terms of the changes and development opportunities these projects will bring.
The Provincial Transit Plan - an Overview
New rapid transit lines, Rapidbus BC lines, and energy efficient buses will be established by Province to deliver an outstanding, green transit system for British Columbians. The plan is aimed at doubling transit ridership by 2020, reduing reliance on the automobile, and providing a comprehensive network to support both goods and people movement for an increasingly urban population.
