Future of the Region: Building a Shared
Roadmap
Saturday, June 25, 2011
9 AM - 2:30 PM
Fairmont Waterfront Hotel
900 Canada Place Way, Vancouver
Imagine the future: Is it the best of times? Or the
worst of times?
Is the Metro Vancouver of the future a place of want and
insecurity? An environmental wasteland devoid of hope? Or will it
be one of social cohesiveness and environmental responsibility,
supported by a vibrant and equitable economy?
Join us for Metro Vancouver's 2011 Sustainability
Congress Saturday, June 25, 2011 at the Fairmont Waterfront in
Vancouver.
Against a backdrop of two divergent future visions of our
region, the Congress will engage citizens in a candid
conversation about the future of the region. Opening with a panel
of distinguished community leaders, moderated by commentator and
journalist Vaughn Palmer, panel members will weigh in on the impact
of five global uncertainties that are profoundly shaping our lives
and our region - Energy, Food, Climate Change, Dematerialization,
and Security. Congress participants will then break into concurrent
sessions in which they will further discuss these issues, followed
by a closing plenary.
Are our current actions leading us toward the future we envision
for ourselves, our children, our communities and our globe?
Which are the key priorities? What distracts us from achieving
that desired future?
